lessons at seminary

Here is another poem from Kathryn at the seminary, this time not a sonnet:

these others
who are never me
move from earnest discourse
to deep conversation
which, you notice,
are synonyms.
they stroll along the walks
voices borne across the shaded lawn, mostly
tones and inflections without words –
I might catch a phrase
but my arms are full
of laundry
and if I am not careful
I will lose a sock
